Top 5 Fall Cake Flavors

Updated: Mar 9, 2022

Looking for a sweet way to celebrate the fall season? We’ve teamed up with The Little Peach Bakery to dream up 5 Fall inspired cakes. Want to actually try these fabulous concoctions? Get in touch (PetalsByPedalBoulder@gamil.com) and we will hook you up with Tina: Little Peach Baker extraordinaire!

Tina: When Petals asked me to write a guest post about my top 5 Fall cake flavors I knew the hardest part would be picking only 5! This season’s hallmark is abundance so I had a lot to choose from. I hope my picks inspire you as you plan your Fall celebration! Whether its a birthday, family get together, or a wedding, these cakes are sure to wet any appetite.

1. Pumpkin Spice &

Caramel

Indulge in savory spices, pumpkin, and sweet caramel. This is perfect for anyone looking for a classic flavor to ring in the season.

I suggest pairing the cake with a delicate vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream to balance out the rich flavors of the cake. A flourish of caramel perfectly tops off this fall favorite.

We decorated this cake with seasonal blooms including sunflower, cotton, eucalyptus, and moody leucadendron.

2. Fig and Honey Cake

The earthy sweetness of fig and honey reminds us of the fleetingness of summer and Fall’s cozy embrace.

The deep purple of the fig perfectly compliments the glossy hue of sun ripe honey.

I suggest finishing this cake off with a honey buttercream frosting to bring out the honey aroma of the cake itself.

Whole and halved figs combined with gold leafing bring this cake to life and elevate the design for a sophisticated but not overly formal look.

3. Cinnamon & Brown Sugar

Another classic fall flavor sure to please all your guests. This cake is packed with a powerful cinnamon flavor and hints of warm brown sugar.

To amplify the cinnamon even more, we added a cinnamon glaze between the layers and paired it with a decadent and rich Italian meringue buttercream.

For decor, we added a beautiful red dahlia, matching hypericum berries, branches, and chocolate hexagons with gold foil to create a rustic yet modern look.

4. Pear and Walnut

Pear often gets overlooked with all the apple and pumpkin hullaballoo of October but it is one of the most delicate fruit flavors the fall season has to offer! Fresh grated pear helps this cake to be extra moist so I like to pair (haha) it with toasted walnuts. Toasting the walnuts enhances the flavor for a delicious compliment to the pear.

Top this cake with buttercream frosting and poached pears for a dessert your guests will dream about until next season!

5. Apple and Cinnamon with Salted Maple

Buttercream Frosting

Freshly grated apple infused with cinnamon and hints of nutmeg bring Fall indoors with all the spicy aroma of the season.

Salted maple buttercream frosting tops off this fall fiesta of flavors with the maple rounding out the tangy apple and the very subtle addition of salt bringing out the spices in the cake.

I hope these delectable descriptions inspire your next event this fall!
